  • Registration: June 3-7
  • Summer Reading Program period: June 10-July 12

Sign up for the programs during the registration week, June 3-7, or at any time during the duration of the 5-week Summer Reading Programs, June 10-July 12. Read one or more books each week, record it in your reading log, and receive a free prize every week (adults receive a prize at the end of the 5 weeks), while supplies last!

Cell Phones, Kids & Us: the Inconvenient Truth about Convenient Technologies by Dr. Carrie Hyman. Electropollution from all wireless microwaves, the wiring in walls, cell towers, wireless routers, WiFi networks, etc. is potentially as life threatening to the human body as asbestos, tobacco and lead paint. There are currently close to 3 billion cell phone users in the world and 80% of the planet is now wireless. Dr. Hyman will talk about what it is, why and how it is bad for you and pose the question, “Is there a solution to electromagnetic pollution?”

 

Cindy Combs: Music from the Hawaiian Renaissance

Cindy Combs, singer, songwriter, and a slack key guitar virtuoso, will perform at Aina Haina Public Library. Combs, who has been performing for more than 30 years, blends Hawaiian music with contemporary jazz styling to create a sound all her own. Suggested for all ages.
