Yasu Ishida Presents "Story Circus"

Be prepared to be amazed and dazzled by Story Circus, an exciting storytelling show where stories meet the circus! Can you imagine what Balloon Haiku, Storygami, and Storytelling with Magic look like? Stories will come together in visual ways inviting audiences' interaction and lots of fun. Yasu Ishida is an award-winning magician, director and performer. Mahalo to the Friends of the Aina Haina Public Library for sponsoring this program. This program is produced by the UH Manoa Outreach College's Statewide Cultural Extension Program.

Wondrous Stories Through Magical Papers

Join the magical adventures of stories! Magician and storyteller Yasu Ishida will share stories from all over the world told in Kamishibai ("Paper-Theatre") style, incorporating magic tricks and various paper art forms, including Origami and Pop-Up Arts. Kamishibai is a storytelling style which became popular in Japan during the 1920s. This free 45-minute program is suitable for preschoolers and lower elementary students. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or adult caregiver.
