Online Self-Renewal Now Available!

HSPLS borrowers can now renew most library materials online. To renew online:

  1. Click on "My Account" on the right side of the library's homepage, or go to http://www.librarieshawaii.org and click on My Account.
  2. Enter your library card number and PIN.
  3. Access your "Items Out" list.
  4. Select the items you would like to renew by clicking on the boxes on the left side.
  5. The new due date will automatically appear, or a promp will be given explaining why the item could not be renewed.
  6. Write the new due date on the book's due date slip as a reminder.

Some items are not eligible for online renewal, including Hot Picks, DVDs, videotapes and overdue materials. Renewals will not be allowed if the item has been requested by someone, or has been renewed once before.

AARP Tax-Aide: Free Help for Basic 2011 Tax Returns

Free help in preparing basic federal and state income tax returns is being offered again this year at the Aina Haina Public Library Meeting Room, with trained volunteers available to help those who cannot prepare their own tax returns, have low to moderate income, are disabled, have limited English skills, or are elderly.

Is Your Child Ready for Kindergarten?

The Learning Disabilities Association of Hawaii (LDAH) School Readiness Project invites children ages 2-5, accompanied by a parent or caregiver, to participate in screenings to check for possible hearing, vision, and developmental issues. Early detection and treatment can prevent learning problems that may affect school performance. These optional screenings are quick, easy, and non-invasive. Results are confidential. Parents or caregivers may also choose to schedule private screenings at a later date with EEIP Project staff. When your child enters kindergarten, he or she will participate in the Hawaii State School Readiness Assessment and hopefully be ready to pass it with flying colors!
