Free Tax Help from AARP Tax-Aide

Beginning Friday, February 4 through April 15, 2011, AARP Tax-Aide will help you file tax return electronically in the meeting room. This service is for taxpayers with low- and moderate-income, with special attention to those age 60 and older. Please check our online calendar for necessary documents to bring. Walk-ins are welcome on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tax-Aide's schedule at the library is as followed:

  • Fridays and Saturdays: 10:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Closed on the following holidays: Saturday, February 19-President's Day; Saturday, March 26-Prince Kuhio Day

The New Sense-Sational Show

Part performance, part participation, this new take on a popular Honolulu Theatre for Youth production offers plenty to see! And smell! And hear! And touch! And even to taste!

Special Story Time with Santa's Visit Tomorrow!

Ho! Ho! Ho! Santa will visit our story time at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow! Take a picture with Santa and make a decorated ornament out of it to take home. Also, don't forget to join us in "Sing Along with Uncle Wayne" next Wednesday, December 22 for another fun-filled program.

Origami Folding with Scott Macri

Engage yourself in some formal origami folding lessons of varying difficulty. There will be discussions on all genres of origami to facilitate learning and sharing with each other. All kinds of origami books and unique papers will also be presented.

Scott Macri is a doctoral student at the School of Architecture at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and member of Hawaii Origami Club. He has been folding origami for 15 years, with exposure to all kinds of origami: traditional, complex, wet folding, unit, modular, polyhedra, tessallations, crease patterns, origamics, science, technology etc. This program is open to audience 12 years or older. Oahu Wind Quintet Concert

While you are visiting our Holiday Book Sale, don't miss the chance to attend this special concert by O'ahu Wind Quintet! The members of this versatile ensemble are Jonathan Higa Flute, Benjamin Peters, Oboe, Ronald Hirai, Clarinet, Thomas Edwards, Bassoon,  and Benjamin Gascon, French Horn.  Each member has been making music as a life-long commitment, performing, directing and teaching in Hawaii and on the Mainland.  These performers take part in other ensembles as well including: the O’ahu Civic Orchestra, O’ahu Chamber Orchestra, the Honolulu Community Concert Band, the Kamuela Philharmonic and Mango Season.
